Cleo Oliver is ... ... a thirteen-year old girl who isn’t quite sure who she is yet. She’s too tall, too skinny, too self-conscious. Her hair is always out of control, her green eyes are always a different shade, not to mention, a bit too large for her head. What Cleo sees when she looks in the mirror is something akin to an alien. She doesn't see the truth of who she is yet, but she's working on it. She definitely has opinions though she's sometimes too shy to share them. Except in her journal and here. Cleo lives with her parents and her pet rabbit, Phoebe, in an apartment on New York City's Upper West Side. Cleo loves her parents, but they don't always remember what it's like to be a kid. Luckily, she's got a best friend. There’s nothing like a friend who totally gets you and never judges you. Together, Cleo and Robbi Richards are invincible. Cleo learns she’s good, great in fact, at disguising herself. She watches other people, how they move, listens to how they talk. She becomes them. If she can’t find her own personality yet, she’ll take on someone else’s! Dressed as various characters, Cleo is free to walk the streets of New York City, ask questions, follow people, and learn what she needs to know to solve mysteries. Using her mother's wardrobe, sometimes her father's, and her own ingenuity, she comes up with characters that allow her to go almost anywhere. Growing up and finding yourself is tough - might as well make it interesting!
